A little more complex than I would have imagined…
Insurance quotes – we have several, and they are all over the map.
Financing – ditto
Surveyors – I must have spoken to a dozen or more, and trying to determine over the phone, which of them will do the best job is not all that easy. Finally, it came down to gut feeling after talking to them. We’ll see how well my gut served me.
Marinas – Buying it is part of the equation, but then we need a place to put it. Several in the area to choose from, ranging from very clean, modern and friendly to the far opposite. We’ve made our selection, and thankfully, the clean friendly one had what we needed as far as a slip goes, and their fees are reasonable.
Hurricane Plan – With our previous boats, our hurricane plan was “Tie it down beside the house and hope” Not so now…insurance companies want a detailed description of what you plan to do to try to thwart Mother Nature’s fury. You know, the sort of fury that can toss 80 foot steel fishing boats hundreds of feet onto dry land. So…”Tie it down in the marina and hope“.
Delivery Captain – Need to hire someone to help us get it from Virginia to Florida, and again, there are only thirty-three gazillion people to choose from.
Well, it’s giving me something to do…
